After all these years of being the pretentious profit hunters and reality show producers they have become,
MTV (formerly known as Music Television) have nominated someone worthy to take the ‘Push’ award (should be something similar to ‘Best Newcomer’ category), namely Brooklyn hip-hop phenomenon Theophilus London.
Theophilus London started out as every hip-hopper does: published some really convincing mixtapes, in 2009 came a debut album which has been under the radar but the beginning of the 2010’s seems to be his time: he has collaborated with fellow Brooklyner/producer genious David Andrew Sitek from TV On The Radio both on his 2011 EP ‘Lovers Holiday’ and on Sitek 2010 solo recording ‘Maximum Balloon’.
Also this year, came his LP debut ‘Timez Are Weird These Days’ on Reprise Records. Although the album met mixed reviews, it definitely show that Theophilus has a really unique production taste and great rapping and singing talent, so he’s definitely one of this year’s biggest promises.
