to-count bassist Flea has released his solo effort titled ‘Helen Burns’ which can be downloaded even for free or for set amounts. Be advised, all proceeds go to The Silverlake Conservatory of Music, a community based non-profit music school.
The bassman comments on the album:
Warning! It is not a Chili Peppers record. It does not have songs that are like the Chili Peppers at all. It is a mostly instrumental, weird and arty record, the music is mostly just me creating soundscapes that are very emotional for me, but certainly not for everyone! Just me tripping out at home.
A 900 limited run of vinyl is also available for $75 a piece.

Radiohead’s Thom Yorke – for those sake who happened to stare in the other direction, no offense – came up with a side project which he named Atoms For Peace in 2009.
Now this band – including besides Yorke the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ bassist Flea and long-time Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich -, according to Flea, are nearing the finish of recording process. Rolling Stone made an interview with the eccentric genius who said “At the end of the tour we went into a studio for three days and just jammed – totally improvising […] Thom and Nigel [Godrich] have taken that stuff and done shit with it. I’ve heard little bits and pieces. I have no idea when it’s going to come out. Not real soon though.”

Although according to Flea a release is not to be expected “any time soon”, there’s a possibility the band will soon hit the road again.
Until then, watch a pro-taped performance of the song ‘Feeling Pulled Apart By Horse’ and then A WHOLE CONCERT by Yorke&Co. :
